ABOUT MEBackground: I have been a professional lighting designer for theatre, dance, television and corporate events for more than 15 years, in venues ranging from the smallest off-off broadway venue to Carnegie Hall, as well as nationally and internationally. I am also a co-founder and Artistic Director of Reverie Productions, a 7 year-old not-for-profit theatre company, best known for groundbreaking new plays like SELF DEFENSE, AMERICAN MA(U)L, MEPHISTO and FATBOY.Over the last several years, I have developed the photographic skills necessary to capture theatre images on film. As an award-winning lighting designer, I have a unique understanding about what it takes to get good, crisp, clean photos in the theatre under less than ideal lighting situations, and as an artistic director, I know what it takes to make photos exciting or unusual enough to get printed in the major NY press. My photos have been published in publications as widely varied as the New York Times, Time Out NY (& London), Newsday, New York Magazine, American Theatre, The Times (UK), The Scotsman, The Guardian, The Herald, and The Independent, on dozens of web sites, as well as in published scripts by Horton Foote, Robert O’Hara, Carson Kreitzer and Edward Albee. My clients include: Classical Theater of Harlem, Clancy Productions, Assembly Theatre, The Flea, Overlap Productions, Nerve, Spin Cycle, A.R.T./New York, ORSON'S SHADOW and several shows in the New York International Fringe Festival.Whether it’s for press set-ups, rehearsal photos, production photos during a dress rehearsal, or archival shots during the run, I’m your guy. I have a whisper quiet camera, so I can even take shots from the back of the house, and not bother your audience! As I am stil trying to build up a clientele, my rates are reasonable, especially for first-time clients:Contact me at colin@lightandphoto.com or 917 902 3063, to discuss your photo shoot or lighting design needs.Colin D.
